Snapped. It just occurred to me that I REALLY hate my life. Mostly all of it.
by easyreader1970 inhere lately, i have just been wishing that i could just fast-forward through my remaining years on earth and just die to get this nonsense all over with.. i have only myself to blame.
if i had gone through with my attempt to leave this hokey religion about sixteen years ago when i attempted to--before i got married and had kids--then maybe i wouldn't be teetering on the very slippery edge of sanity.
instead i punked out, buckled under the threats of shunning and guilt of abandoning family members, and so here i am--looking into the mirror every morning wondering when the nightmare is going to end.

Ok, here's another tack to try:
Kill her with fanaticism. Tell her you feel you're not spiritual enough and need to take in solid food at every opportunity. Start the morning off right by plugging in the old tape recorder or mp3 (what have you). Play the tapes, any tape - the latest Watchtower magazine, or a Bible reading - whatever you can lay your hands on. Play them in the car, first thing when you get home from work - carefully make notes of new truths learned, etc.
Those tapes are enough to drive anyone insane, if you keep them running long enough and often enough. Play the same one over and over again, just to eke out new gems of truth! Maybe she will start to 'see' herself - from a different angle, aka THE FANATIC. Heck, it's worth a try - just for the entertainment value!
I am not trying to make light of your predicament. I know it must be HELL ON EARTH. Sometimes reverse psychology is the only thing that works. Just my 2c.

What Have YOU Learned About Jehovah's Witnesses That You Didn't Know Before?
by minimus inanything come to mind??

Well I learned from the mainstream media that there was some sort of a backroom deal with the government of Bulgaria regarding the Society's stance on blood...at first, I was incredulous...
However I soon began to see the light ... many, many backroom deals going on in this organization....all of which gives me hope that something, very soon, is going to blow the whole farce wide open...

Yeah, I got that after I googled it! It just sounded a little different than I remembered but he still does a great job of it, all these years later! Oh, to be back in the 70's again!!

To Quotes: Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to pm:
I humbly submit that this might be just the time to bring your "W. Glen How and Associates" letterhead to light! Even though the signature on the letter is not his, the contents are on HIS LETTERHEAD! In full view! Advertise, advertise, advertise (if you are able) the duplicity of this publishing house masquerading as a freedom-loving religion so that their hypocrisy is as plain to ALL as it is to us who have had our eyes 'opened'. How they effectively SHUT YOU DOWN for very effectively speaking out against them with their own words! I don't know if you have the stomach for it (I know these things are emotionally and physically draining), but the Globe just might REALLY REALLY LIKE YOUR STORY! (here's hoping) and it could potentially reach a very WIDE AUDIENCE. If not the Globe, maybe another of Toronto's papers - heck, why not submit it to LEGAL review papers and the like - it should make for some interesting conversations throughout the legal world. (THE TRUTH MUST GET OUT!)
Just my 2 cents. By the way, I just want to add my thanks for how much your site helped me and I'm sure many many others, more than you can ever know...

The terrible irony of Glenn How's entire career is that the freedom of speech he so courageously championed before the Supreme Court of Canada is nowhere available within the Jehovah's Witnesses/Watchtower Bible & Tract Society organization.
Dare to question or express an alternative viewpoint to either your local elder or the World Headquarters and you would be immediately viewed as suspect, and treated a la Duplessis in very short order.

X-Witnesses and Faders - have you had a help them return visit yet?
by eyeslice inwith the watchtower study about helping 'lost sheep' return, i have been half expecting a visit.
i have mentally rehearsed how i should handle the situation, which is fairly tricky as i still have family in.
but no call yet.

YES, we had ours! Complete with having the actual Watchtower magazine salient parts read to us to determine why we weren't attending...can't be too specific or else I'll blow my cover, but the tone of the visit ALL IN ALL was FRIENDLY - they really MISS US!
So we took it all in stride...If anything changes and we get ELDERS' visits with an obvious agenda, then we'll know that the hammer may be coming down but so far so good...Problem is we are having increasing difficulty in holding our tongues!
